Brief History

St. Mary’s Lwak is a Provincial girl School on a 30 acreland located in Rarieda District, Siaya County. It is a Catholic sponsored School which was established by the Franciscan Sisters of St. Anna from Oudenbosh- Holland in 1965. The Sisters main objective of starting the school in village was to empower the ordinary girl child by offering her chance to Education.

At inception the School had two classroom, one lab ,a small hall which served both as dormitory and dining hall. The student population moved from 30 students single stream to 1165 student (6 streams).

Presently the School has a population 30 TSC teachers against the curriculum based establishment of 54 teachers. The Board through the support of the Parents has employed 21 B.O.G teachers.

It has a total of 43 support staff.
