Nyakahura Secondary School

Description

This school has been transforming the lives of many academically, intellectually, socially and spiritually.

This is a school to be. We are located only 10km from Murang’a and situated along the Murang’a -Irima tarmac road.

The school is a mixed day and boarding for both girls and boys. It was started way back in 1976 after the parents of the local primary school decries the lack of a school for their students who could not proceed to national and provincial school.

The foundation stone was laid on 2nd  Sept 1979 by the then Kangema KANU chairman the late HON. JOHN MICHUKI.

The school enrollment by then was 13 students. This population has grown over the years to being a double-streamed school it is today.

The school is fully staffed with 12 teachers. However, currently, the teaching staff is being stretched by the current expansion. Two additional teachers are currently required to meet the short fall.

The school has produced students who have proceeded to different levels of higher learning and in to several sectors of the economy.

The school has achieved in extra curricula activities e.g it awarded one of the best Choral Verse in the district in the year 2012, the third best presentation in Narrative in 2012 district drama festivals among others. The School fared well in the ballgames as well as in athletics during the year.

The Principal and the whole school at large is elated at the completion of the Electrification project, the construction of the three classrooms, the impressive School gate and the fully equiped I.C.T. Laboratory.

Nyakahura is surely looking towards a great future. God Bless Nyakahura.
