Kauwi Secondary School

Brief History

The school was started in 2006 through the effort of the local community. The local leaders were responding to the felt need of increased accessibility and affordability of secondary Education. The Land where the school stands was donated by the local primary school – Kauwi Primary School. A total of 10 hectares were set aside for the development of a day secondary school.

The local leaders led by the area Councilor Daniel Kitulo, Senior Chief Antony Muange Wambua, a veteran Educationist Mr. Geoffrey Maingi and the then Head teacher of Kauwi Primary School Late Christine Mawia Kivalason approached the then Area member of Parliament  Hon. Nyiva Mwendwa through the constituency Development Committee  for partnership in Developing the school. The CDF Committee under took to provide the physical infrastructure while the community was to provide the required land, Sand and Ballast.

The then District water Engineer – Eng. Ndisya connected the school to Masinga Water Pipeline for free. The first batch of form one students were admitted in February 2006 and housed at Kauwi Primary School. Meanwhile the CDF Committee began construction work at the school site. An administration block and four classrooms were constructed up to the roof by the time the term of the committee and that of the MP. Expired.
